Shangri-La found in Yunnan
This was an article that looked at the Yunnan province in Southwestern China. There's a focus on the all-women's, matriarchal tribe in Lugu Lake village as well as the cities of Dali, Lijiang and Zhongdian - which is more commonly known as Shangri-La.

In quest of Tibet

This article is a continuation of the previous article, although many months later. This article focused on my experience looking for 'Tibet'. I only realised that part of the autonomous region in Yunnan province belongs to the Tibetan plateau. Zhongdian, or Shangri-La, was named after the famed lost city in James Hilton's book Lost Horizon.

Look for fish, hear music
This article came about after I brought a group of students on a study trip to the Philippines. A few of us tagged along with some local photojournalists on a volunteer mission to Casa San Miguel, a fishing village in the northwestern parts of the Philippines. This is Zambales, a town full of heart and many smiling faces despite the hardship they have to endure. It was an experience having to wake up at 3am to head out to the beach and await for the first boat to arrive to shore after a day's out in sea.
